The Italian Heritage Parade (Columbus Day) was back to its full glory this year! We had a good band turnout, and we were well received by the thousands of spectators. The Blue Angels flying overhead were obscured, however, by a fast-moving fog layer which created occasional gusts of wind at street level. |

[1] Here we come, led by Jo-Ellen and Jeri, our intrepid banner carriers!

[2] Here is Joel, our first-chair euphonium player.

[3] Kathie is first-chair tambourinist.

[4] Three saxophones in front: Keltie, Laura, and Buzz.

[5] She’s ready for her eye test at the DMV.

[6] Barb, Delightful Debbie, Nancy, and Smiley are part of our percussion section.

[7] Judi, our pizza girl, is a big hit with the audience!

[8] The rest of the photos were sent in by Judi. The first few were taken in our staging area, before the parade. Here, she is befriending a goat, who mistakenly thought it was a pet parade.

[9] Here’s Dan, as a convincing pizza chef!

[10] Judi loves to take selfies, especially when she can find willing companions!

[11] Keltie is dressed for the occasion!

[12] Keltie and Pili are ready to party!

[13] San Francisco’s finest were on hand to guard the beer cart.

[14] Carpy came prepared, with his mace, trumpet, juggling balls, and whistle, to be our Senior Drum Major today.

[15] It’s time to warm up with a few tunes.

[16] Smiley is in good spirits today!

[17] The parade is underway!

[18] Florence is happy to be here!

[19] This spectator has been watiing for our band all day!

[20] The judging stand is across the street from Saints Peter and Paul Church.

[21] Just as we passed the judging stand, a big gust of wind blew the cart umbrella inside-out!

[22] We then proceeded to the disbanding area for some refreshment.

[23] A lot of sailors were in town for Fleet Week, so Judi was real busy!

[24] A wonderful day to celebrate Columbus!
